Fr. “Skip” Thompson, MSA, is a late vocation priest with the Society of the Missionaries of Holy Apostles. Born in Oregon, he grew up in the Salinas Valley of California and graduated from U.C. Davis. For 25 years he worked in Sacramento, was married, and had 3 children. Tragedy took his son in the 80’s and he eventually divorced. He is a self-described Prodigal Son who returned to his senses in 2002 and began to follow Christ anew. He went to a Baptist church and studied on-line at a Protestant seminary in 2003-05.
After visiting Rome and studying Catholic apologetics, especially the Eucharist, Skip “journeyed home” to his Catholic faith in 2006. For details see YouTube: “Fr. Skip Journey Home”. He attended Holy Apostles College & Seminary in Cromwell, CT and graduated with degrees in Divinity and Theology, majoring in Sacred Scripture. Fr. Skip was ordained in 2015 and assigned Dean of Men at Holy Apostles College & Seminary.
Fr. Skip seeks to inspire, assist and challenge Catholics to seriously follow Christ’s universal call to salvation and holiness of life by going deeper in relationship with Him. The mission of the MSA is to: “promote, accompany and form youth and adults to the priesthood and other ministries in the Church.” In his capacity as Vocation Director, he is looking for “a few good men” to follow Christ as priests, and in general, to help Catholics be "salt and light" to friends, families, nation and culture.
